L'Ampolla.
L'Ampolla is a town of 3,200 inhabitants located in the Baix Ebre region. It is considered to be the gateway to the Ebro Delta, since it is located at the end of the Sant Jordi golf course. The natural environment of l'Ampolla is characterized by its sandy and stone beaches, shallow depth and calm waters.
Marina de l'Ampolla
The name of l'Ampolla "the bottle" in Catalan is due to the amphora-shaped silhouette that was in the old mouth of the river, a space that currently concentrates all the components of the Ebro Delta : sea, bay , land, dunes. During the 20th century, its main historical episode was the struggle for the segregation of El Perelló , which it carried out after 50 years of clashes between the two municipalities, on May 5, 1990. It is therefore a young city and turned towards the future thanks to the development of Eco tourism .
L'Ampolla has been a member of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism since 2007 through the Delta de l'Ebre Natural Park. It has been a biosphere reserve since 2013 as a fully-fledged municipality of Terres de l'Ebre. L'Ampolla has also obtained the seal of the international association Global Green Destination as one of the 100 best sustainable destinations in the world (2016 and 2017).
